NYC ENGAGEMENT GUIDE

Are you ready to rock a fabulous photo shoot in the heart of New York City during the beautiful season of spring? Well, you've come to the right place! Whether you're a blushing bride, a loving couple, or a talented photographer, we've got the ultimate guide for a picture-perfect shoot at the Met Steps and Central Park.

First things first, let's talk timing. Springtime in New York City is truly magical, and early mornings or late afternoons are the perfect time to capture those dreamy shots. Trust us; the lighting during golden hour is pure magic! And if you're planning to hit up the Met Steps, try to avoid peak tourist hours by planning a weekday shoot. We did do our shoot on a Sunday Afternoon and because the Met Museum closes at 5pm the steps were emptier which was great.

Now, let's get to the good stuff - outfits! When it comes to fashion, New Yorkers don't play around, so you'll want to make sure your outfits are on point. We recommend going for solid colors or subtle prints that complement each other and the lush greenery of Central Park. We loved working with a black dress against the concrete of the Met Steps and surrounding areas while the white dress worked super well with Central Park as the backdrop. Oh, and don't forget the accessories!

Next up, it's time to find the perfect photographer to capture your stunning looks. Make sure to find someone who understands your vision and can bring it to life. Roy and I love photos that are simplistic, elegant, natural and filmy. So that’s what we went for! Plus, communicating with your photographer ahead of time ensures they'll know exactly what you want and can plan accordingly.

Now, onto the main event - the Met Steps and Central Park. For all you Gossip Girl fans, the Met Steps are an iconic New York location that's perfect for some regal photos. But remember, it's private property, so be respectful and get there later to snag the best spot. And as for Central Park, the options are endless! You can hit up the Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge, or the Conservatory Garden - the world is your oyster!

So, there you have it - the ultimate guide to an amazing photoshoot in New York City during springtime! With the perfect timing, outfits, photographer, and location, you're sure to capture some unforgettable memories. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and let's go!

Some important things to remember:

+ The Museum closes at 5pm so if you need a bathroom there is a Starbucks on Madison Ave between 84th and 85th street.

+ Doing your shoot late afternoon is the best. The steps really are not that busy after the museum closes and you will be able to find a spot easily. We would suggest starting your shoot at Central Park and then heading over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

+ Solid colors work best. Black is beautiful.

+ ENJOY!
